MCP (Model Context Protocol)

The Model Context Protocol, which connects an LLM agent (Claude Code, IDE agents, Claude Desktop) to a Truestamp account at /mcp, a three-tool code-mode surface authenticated exclusively by OAuth 2.1 with an mcp:read/mcp:write scope split and a preview-then-submit write flow.

Overview

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open protocol that connects an LLM agent, such as Claude Code, an IDE agent, or Claude Desktop, to a Truestamp account through the endpoint at /mcp. Truestamp’s MCP server is a “code mode” surface exposing exactly three tools (an orientation quickstart, a self-describing API-docs catalog, and a script runner that composes catalog operations in one round trip) rather than dozens of narrow ones. Access is exclusively OAuth 2.1: an API key is never accepted on this endpoint, and the client performs the whole browser-consent authorization handshake for you. Reading requires the mcp:read scope, any write additionally requires mcp:write, and creating an item follows a preview-then-submit confirm-before-write flow so the exact values are shown for approval before anything is persisted. See the MCP server concept for connection steps and the full tool and operation catalog.
