Overview

Item Commitment is the first of Truestamp’s two commitment events: an item’s item_hash becomes a leaf in the Merkle tree of a finalized Truestamp block. The inclusion is recorded with a compact Merkle inclusion proof, and the item transitions to its committed state, as described in the item lifecycle. Item Commitment proves the item was submitted within the block’s submission window, but it says nothing about public blockchains; the external witness comes later, from Block Commitment.
