Recovery code
A single-use backup code issued in a batch when Truestamp two-factor authentication is enrolled, entered in place of a TOTP code at the second-factor step; each code works exactly once, only a hashed form is stored, and regenerating a batch invalidates the previous one.
Overview
A recovery code is a single-use backup credential for Truestamp two-factor authentication. When you enroll in TOTP you receive a batch of recovery codes to save somewhere safe; if your authenticator app is ever unavailable, the second-factor screen offers a “use a recovery code” path where one code completes the sign-in instead. Each code works exactly once and is then spent, and you can regenerate a fresh batch at any time, which immediately invalidates every previous code. Truestamp stores only a hashed form of each code and shows the plaintext exactly once, at generation, so lost codes are replaced by regenerating rather than recovered.
